The reason I ever feel anxious or scared is usually rooted in the fear of the unknown. The inability to anticipate what comes next is overwhelming, and I used to try to put my mind somewhere else, so I can ignore or numb out the nervousness. But I realized that can only be done to a small extent, and it’s always just a temporary relief.

Something I found that really helps me relax is the ground beneath my feet. No matter how chaotic the world around me becomes, it’s good to know that the ground will always be there, supporting me.
Time always passes, and tomorrow’s a new day, but what will it bring? One thing I always know for sure, is that the ground and earth aren’t going anywhere. No matter what, everyday I’ll be taking small steps on the road ahead, relying on the ground to carry me through. In a sense, the ground will be my constant companion throughout my whole life.
When I’m frightened or scared, instead of pacing in worry, I stand still and focus on my feet. I become aware of how my feet are touching the floor, and I feel safe and secure. I pay attention to every part of my whole feet, from my toes to the soles, recognizing that the ground is stable right under me. The mere sense that I am on my feet can reassure me that I’m okay.

Time, money, friendships and relationships come and go, but the ground will always be there. It’s comforting to know that something so simple yet profound will always be by my side till the end. I’ve learned not to take this for granted. The ground is my source of peace, and I’m making a promise to myself to appreciate its steady support each day.
